China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC) completed the renewal of its Panel of Arbitrators days ago. The new Panel of Arbitrators come into effect on May 1, 2021, and will expire after five years.
The new Panel consists of 826 arbitrators from 36 countries or regions. Specifically, 704 arbitrators come from mainland China, covering 35 cities with a more reasonable distribution across the country. 122 arbitrators come from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and foreign countries with a wider distribution across the world. The new Panel has more diversified expertise and more scientific coverage of professional fields, meeting the business development needs of CMAC.
Arbitrators are of vital importance to arbitration cases, and therefore the core and key to improving credibility of arbitration. CMAC will continue to uphold independence, impartiality, diligence, professionalism and efficiency, unify the efforts of arbitrators, continue to improve the credibility of arbitration, and strive to open new chapter for CMAC endeavors.
