On 30 August 2022, CMAC, in collaboration with China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Zhejiang Committee and Zhoushan Municipal Government, hosted the 4th International Maritime Law Forum on Free Trade Ports(Zones) in Zhoushan as well as online. The forum was co-organized by CMAC Zhejiang Pilot Free Trade Zone Arbitration Center and CCPIT Zhoushan City Committee. Mr Ke Liangdong (Vice Chairperson of CCPIT), Mr Tang Xuebing (President of Ningbo Maritime Court), and Mr. Gao haomeng (Deputy Secretary of the CPC Zhoushan Municipal Committee of Zhejiang Province) delivered welcome remarks.
Under the theme “Cooperation and Building a Preferred Place for International Maritime Dispute Resolution”, the forum focused on the new trend of international maritime dispute resolution and discussed the path for a preferred place for international maritime dispute resolution. The forum brought together esteemed experts from maritime and commercial domains for a lively, informative and far-reaching discussion to share their valuable insights, facilitating a better understanding of the feature, legislation and future of free trade ports, with the aim of improving the global interconnections and radiation capacity of Zhoushan to be an international hub. Based on China’s reality and drawing on international best experience, the forum will deepen cooperation and exchange between international and domestic free trade ports, promoting a healthy rule of law environment in the free trade ports (zones) of China.
The forum attracted around 200 on-site attendees and 110000 audience online, including legal practitioners, industry professionals, scholars, business leaders.
