On 16 June, the China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC) officially released The Report on the 1-Year Anniversary of 2021 CMAC Arbitration Rules: Achievements and Prospect (The Report) and The CMAC Guidelines on Tribunal Secretary and Case Manager (Two Guidelines). The release of the Report and Two Guides has received extensive attention in the industry.
The Report provides an overview of all the cases to which the 2021 Arbitration Rules have been applied from 1 October 2021 to 31 December 2022, the handling of cases by arbitrators, and the practice of Eight Breakthrough Provisions of the 2021 Arbitration Rules.
The CMAC Guidelines on Case Manager aims to standardize the work of case managers and improve the quality and efficiency of arbitration management in arbitral institutions. The CMAC Guidelines on Case Manager provides operational guidelines for the employment of secretaries of arbitral tribunals in institutional or ad hoc arbitration cases and for the regulation of the secretaries’ services of arbitral tribunals.
